James L Anderson Sheriff of this County informs me that the letter I wrote to Gov. Bramlette in reference to Richard Lutrell's forfeiture has been mislaid or lost. and, that you requested me to write another —

Richard Lutrell was security in Bail bond for $500- for the appearance of W^m Williams in Garrard Circuit Court Bond was forfeited at the last ~~August~~Febr. Term of this court

And Judgment obtained against said Lutrell at the Aug Term 1863 for the sd $500- I have been informed by quite a number of very reliable citizens of this county that Lutrell is honest and industrious but now very poor, had some property at the time the bond was taken but has since been cheated out of it, the bond was given for the appearance of his nephew These persons also inform me that Lutrell has his sister (who is a widow with a large family of little children to support) which is all and more than he can well do comfortably That he is still honest &

industrious and is laboring faithfully to discharge his duties to his sisters family That he is entirely unable to pay and will have to go to Jail For these reasons I have been urged to submit these facts to his excellency for his consideration. If the Gov. shall remit the fine I am willing to [leave] the greater part of my fee in the case.

I think this case more meritorious than any which has fallen under my Jurisdiction and I cheerfully submit the facts-
