To His Excellency the
Governor of the State of Kentucky.

Your Petitioner Lucinda Greenman of the City of Chicago In the State of Illinois on oath represents to your Excellency that her son Silas L. Greenman is now confined in the Penitentiary at Frankfort on a conviction for larceny obtained during the month of May A.D. 1862 or thereabouts, and that he was sentenced for the term of five years as your Petitioner is informed & believes to be true which term is still unexpired.

And your Petitioner further represents to your Excellency that she is in very feeble health without any means of support and entirely dependant upon her sons for her maintenance, two of which are quite young, & one of them incapacitated by a bodily injury from engaging in any laborious occupation, and that she had been entirely supported by her son Silas previous to his arrest, and is now entirely deprived of his aid.

And your Petitioner further shows that her said son had resided in said City of Chicago up to within about a year of his arrest or conviction as aforesaid and for about two years had been employed as a Porter in the
Metropolitan Hotel in said City, and that she is informed by the Proprietor of said Hotel that during such employment the deportment of her son was unexceptionable, and that he had a most excellent reputation for honesty, integrity, & for careful attention to the duties of his place. and that he left his sittuation as Porter for that of Steward on one of the river Boats under the inducement of higher wages.

And your Petitioner further shows that her said son was convicted under the name of George Thomas which was assumed out of regard to the feelings of his mother your Petitioner.

And your Petitioner further shows that her said son Silas L. Greenman has never before been convicted, nor accused nor even suspected of the commission of any offence against the Laws, but has always hitherto been a good citizen, & a kind, attentive and affectionate son.

Wherefore your Petitioner prays your Excellency to exercise your prerogative and to grant to the said Silas L. Greenman, otherwise called George Thomas a Pardon in order that he may be restored to his mother & to his friends.

And your Petitioner with full
