To His Excellency
T E Bramlette
Dear Sir.

I write for the purpose of making application to you for a commission to raise a company to go into the state service or to act as independant scouts. I wish to raise a company for six or twelve months to fight the Guerrillas who are now infesting this section of country. I will take my company into the state service and in that case will ask for arms horses equipments, and regular pay as state troops or if you will you will arm, mount us, I will obtain my pay from captures made from the enemy I will act as an independant company with the understanding that in lieu of regular pay we will appropriate to our own use all legal prizes of war taken from the enemy. I have served
in the army and find that there is no peace at home. The guerrillas are traversing the country and we returned volunteers must do something for our own protection. and we ask the aid of the state authorities in our efforts Hoping to hear from you, I am
