I would state that I was captain of company B capital guard under command of Major M. A. Pain at Paducah Kentucky & Lofton H Mitchell was orderly seargant in my company and made a good soldier. That we was ordered by Major M. A. Payne to Trigg County with orders to Press horses from off of rebel sympathyzers, and take ~~all~~ arms and contraband, and that L H Mitchell had orders to take the Horse of Degraffenread, I further state that Degraffenread was a Rebel sympathyzer from Report of the deepest Dye
