To his Excelency the Govener of Kentucky

Your Petitioners would Respectfully Represent, That at the November Term of the Scott Circuit Court for 1863. Jerimiah Haner was — Fined to the Extent of the law the charge against Said Haner was Selling whiskey to a Slave without an order, the selling of said whiskey is Said to have taken place in the year 1860 The proof against said Haner was that the Negro Boy Jack was seen to come from the house of Said Haner with a bottle of whiskey. Said Haner has been ready foran Trial at all the courts Since he was Indited, and would have been present at the last Term of Said Court but for the fact that the only witness the Commonwealth had was M, h Sinclair and said Sinclair told Said Haner a day or two before Said court that he would not be there to testify that the cause had been continued from court to court Since 1860 on account of the absence of said witness, Said Haner has been ever Since the Inditment ^Redy^ to prove by R, G, Johnson that Said Johnson bought the whiskey alluded to and went ^out^ of said Haner house and gave to Said Negro Jack the Bottle found in his possesion For these considerations we would Pray his Excelency the Remit Said Fine
