Notary public in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1864. Commissioner and agent for the Commonwealth of Kentucky from April 8, 1864, to December 1866. Notary public in Louisville in 1865. Author of the December 20, 1865, report entitled, "Report of the State Agent for Kentucky, in Regard to Credits on Drafts and Certificates for Slaves Mustered into the U.S. Service."

  Fleming County, Kentucky, farmer, deputy sheriff, clerk, and soldier. Fleming County, Kentucky, native. Son of Joseph Dorsey and Arra Dorsey. Student in Fleming County in 1850. Deputy clerk in Fleming County Court prior to 1860. Deputy sheriff in Fleming County in 1860. Enlisted in the 16th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as private on October 12, 1861. Discharged on virtue of enlistment as veteran volunteer on December 31, 1863. Mustered back in the 16th Kentucky on January 1, 1864. Wounded in action at Columbia, Tennessee, on November 29, 1864, and sent to hospital, where he also served as a nurse in the No. 19 U. S. A. General Hospital, Nashville, Tennessee, from November 30, 1864, to February 1865. Mustered out on July 15, 1865
