Governor of Kentucky

The undersigned citizens of Washington County would respectfully petition your excellency to remit the fine ^for $100 — ^ recovered against Mandville Elliott, recovered at the Mar Term of the Washington Circuit Court for failing to attend in discharge of his recognizance as a witness for the Commonwealth in the Case of the Commonwealth vs Matt Isaacs & Siles Bolling Charged with felony, as from our knowledge of Mr Elliott we are satisfied that he subjected himself to the forfeiture innocently and for no improper purpose, and from the impression that there could be no trial of the cause, from the fact that Isaacs was known to be absent in the Federal army —
