His Excellency. Thomas. E. Bramlette.
Governer Of Kentucky.
Sir.

The undersigned citizens of Jessamine state that W^m H. Dean was fined the sum of fifty eight dollars and seventy cents ($58(70) at the March term of the Jessamine Circuit Court 1865 for carrying concealed weapons in the year 1861. The condition of the country at that time and the state of society where Mr Dean resided fully justified him in carrying a weapon for his defense. He has served the state and country faithfully as a soldier for three years in the 1^st Ky Cavalry and the fine was asessed against him without his knowledge and when absent from home so that he could not defend himself We believe him to be a fit subject for executive clemency and we respectfully petition you to remit as much of his fine as is in your power.
