Dear Sir
I enclose two petitions one of Col Jno L Zeigler and the other of Saml Street praying for Executive Clemency in thare behalf in the remission of fines They are endorsed by the attorney of the Commonwealth for our district and signed by the best Citizens I hope you will find it consistent
with your sense of duty to grant the prayers of the petitioners
I had hoped to have sent you during this week it was my intention to call upon you but circumstances have prevented me I have great anxiety to here your opinions on the present state of the Country and the duty of Kentucky in this her most trying hour. I fear there is trouble ahead yet for Kentucky and my hopes for her safety in the future are as they have been for the last two years in your wisdom
