The recognizance was for $300 for appearance of G F Ballentine in Lyon circuit Court to answer and indictment for stabbing Jos Terrell with intent to Kill โ I think it was taken for forfeited at
I inclose $2 & if I find I am mistaken in time of the forfeiture I can send it back for you to alter the figure 2 to 1 โ I am pretty sure I am correct

Dear Sir:
By an act of the General Assembly, there is a fee of two dollars allowed the Assistant Secretary of State in every case where a fine or forfeiture is remitted or respited by the Governor, and the papers for remissions and respites will not be issued until the fee is received.
