To his Excellency Thomas E. Bramlette Governor of Kentucky The under Signed petitioners would resepectfuly represent to your Excellency that one George Frazier Esq of this County was fined at the Last October term of the Carter Circuit Court (1865) the Sum of $60, for Keeping a tipling house, Now we petition you to remit Said fine for for these reasons Mr Frazier was stilling some whiskey in this county in 1863 & 64 and by Some means the Home gards & Rebels, both visitied him and got his whisky and paid him for it and he was Indicted for it and he was fined for the Same Now under the circumstances that our County was in great Confusion and all of the people were robed and thier property was all Gone which left men and families to Shift and manage to get mearly provisions much less to pay fines and as Mr Frazier is now in this condition a poor man with a Large family to feed and educate leaving him too poor to pay a fine or if he Should be forced to pay it. It will leave him in a bad Condition with his family and now as the Case Stands in this case he Kneeds your clemency which we trust he will receive from your Kind hand by remitting Said fine and by So doing you will help the children &c & for Such relief we shall ever pray October 27 1865
