Gov T. E. Bramlet
Sir
At my request some time since you commissioned Q M Chandler as Justice of the peace for the Harpville district in this county — Marion — He declines to accept. [consignent] It becomes necessary to appoint some one else, I suggested his name without consulting with him but supposed he would serve if commissioned.
I have spoken to Elihu Booth of said district who is a man of good capisity & who will make a good officer and he informed me that if you would honor him with the appointment that he would serve.
The office is not sought by any one It is who [will] take it.
Pardon me for giving you this second trouble.
I am with great respect
Yours R A Burton
Justice Peace
