Verona Boone Co Ky
Hon B Magoffin
Governor of Kentucky
Sir:
Having formed a company of "Home Guards" at this place I desire to know if yYour Excellency can furnish it with arms. It is a cavalry company numbering about fifty effective men. The officers were not elected in accordance with the provisions of the Military Bill, but will be if it is possible to obtain arms. Our exposed condition here on the border, subject as we are to the violence of mobs from the other side of the river, makes it necessary that the company should be armed as soon as possible.
Also, because Garrett Davis and other "Union shrieking", submissions abolition Lincolnites are receiving arms from their master we disire to be armed.
Please answer.
Yours very resp—
V. Finnell. Capt
