Frankfort
Dear Governer
This will be handed you b Joseph Rickett Esqr of Muhlenberg county; he is a practicing lawyer and stands well in his profession โ I have had the pleasure of an acquaintance with him since the winter so far as I know he is a gentleman of integrity and candour โ
He has charge of a Petition asking the commutation of punishment from death to the penitentiary of a man who has lately been convicted of murder in McLean
of Course you will act upon the case as you think is right โ
Yours very truly
A. J. James
