Your petitioner John Perry Jr would respectfully represent that at the
Your petitioner would represent that he is not in the habit of betting, he is a law abiding man that the bet was made under excitement, that since the bet and the Indictment he has connected himself with the church, and hopes and believes he will live a different life — that this is the first offence and Indictment ever found against him, wherefore he would pray your Excellency to exercise the power wisely vested in you by the Constitution to release him from said Indictment and the fine thereunder and will ever pray &c
