Hon: Beriah Magoffin
Dear Sir
I have just read the petition of Mr William Hord to be released from a fine of fifteen ^or twenty^ dollars for selling liquor and concur with the petitioners. I think from his poverty & his feeble health that he is a fit subject of executive clemency. Besides he promises to "sin no more" in that way. I hope you will deem it consistent with your feelings to remit the fine
very respectfully
yours &c
John Stites
