Gov Magoffin
with this Letter please find a Petition asking your honor to Parden Call a man that was convicted at the last term of the Ballard Circuit Court for stabbing a man in this County. You will preceive that the grand Jury & Petit Jury have sighned the Petition. there was a great many people in Blandville on the day of the trial & numbers together with several of the grand & Petit Jury solicited me to write the Petition herewith enclosed. I would have sent the Petition with the sheriff, but I was absent from this place on business at Padducah & expected to get back before the sheriff started
as to the facts of the Petition I refer you to the commonwealths attorney Thos. H. Corbit He says he would sighn the Petition if it was not for being bothered with other Petitions in the future He says he has established the rule since commencing the duties of his office to sighn no Petition for the release of any one he may convict believing you will do as your honor may deem just & right in Calls case &c
I remain your obedient servant
B. Boyd
Gov. Magoffin
