Louisville
Gov Magoffin
Der Sir
You will be called on to remit a fine against L. B. Hicks son, of one of our most active loyal and true Democrats also one of the best citizens ^we have Col Thos M. Hicks^ his son is quite a youth yet he has the ring of the right mettle, here- he is to be killed off in his boyhood by imposing fines on him, by a party who is so notorious in this & other cities that it is scarsely necessary to say more then to refer to the past-
I hope you may find it agreeable to your feeling & Judgement to remit all such fines- and in my opinion it will meet the hearty approval of all who know Col Hicks & his worthy son —
Yours with profound respect
