The undersigned petitioner would state that at the
Now your petitioner would state that he never did commit an assault upon Said Lidle in his life,
He says that all he done was that this, that Said Lidle Came into his house one day, and commenced abusing petitioners wife, that she Scand^alized^ petitioners wife, who called to petitioner to get her to go away, that petitioner done all he could to get Said Lidle to leave and not abuse his wife, and failing in that, he only put her out of the Door and closed it after her,
He Says Said Lidle was the only witness in the case who professed to know any thing about the matter and that through malice she was determined to Vent her spite upon Deft for putting her out of the house, Deft Most Solemly avows that he never did assault her, and in view of all the facts of the case he asks your Excellency to remit Said fine

The undersigned Citizens of Louisville state that, they are acquainted with the within petitioner said Forst, that they know him to be a man of truth and a Law abiding Citizen, that they believe the statements of the within petition are true, that they believe his is a case that calls for Executive Clemency and unite with him in asking your Excellency to remit Said fine

Mr. Forst is a verry quiet orderly citizen & this statements are entitled to full credit. The woman Lidle was the only witness in the case, she is a german servant woman & in giveing her Testimony Evinced much bitterness towards Forst.
