Hopkinsville
My dear Sir
This will be handed you by my young frined Millin D. Brown of this county who visits your Excellency for the purpose of asking your aid in the Matter of a recognisance in which he and some of his friends stand bound to the State.
He will present to you a memorial setting forth the facts and the grounds upon which your interference is solicited.
I have read the petition and have no doubt of the truthfulness of its statements.
I know Mr. Brown and his co-sureties to be worthy young men, wholly dependent upon their own exertions for a living; and believe that the exercise of clemency in their behalf will not only be right and just; but also that it will meet the approbation of the people of our county.
Trusting that Mr Browns application will meet with favor at
your hands I have the honor to remain
Very truly
your friend & servt
Henry J Stiles
Gov. Magoffin

Ky
I heartily endorse the above
