Hopkinsville
Gov. Magoffin
Dear Sir,
I have been requested to sign a petition asking you to release the sureties in a Recognizance for the appearance of J. C. Bentley to answer an indictment in the Christian Circuit Court. I am acquainted with the facts of the case and the circumstances under which the sureties entered into recognizance and I am satisfied that they did it in good faith expecting Bentley to appear and be tried, I am also well satisfied that if Bentley had been tried he ought to have been acquitted.
Very respfy,
Your obt. svt.
Jno. B. Knight
Beriah Magoffin
Gov. Ky.
Mr. Brown
