His Excellency
B Magoffin
Dr Sir
You will I trust pardon me for troubling you again. I write to invite your attention to the case of Angelo Devoto, who is now in the Jail of Jefferson under sentence for one years imprisonment in the Penitentiary. The offence for which he was convicted was the having in possession a small quantity of dry ^goods^ which was said to be stolen
I enclose a letter from Dr Seely physician to the Jail and it will appears from that letter that Devoto will in all probabilty die if he is sent to the Pententiary. I hope you will pardon him
Very respy
Yr obt srvt
N. Wolfe
