To B. Magoffin
Govenor of Kentucky,
Your Petitioner John W. Morgan would most respectfully represent to Your Excellency that on the and with setting up a ^or games^ game of Faro in the County of Marion and according to the obligations of the bonds your Petitioner had executed appeared in Court at the proper time and upon arrangement Consent of the Court acknowledged Judgment in case for the sum of $500, and costs. Your Petitioner expressly states than when he signed said bonds he only intended to become the security of said Daniel ^for his appearance in Court^ and did not beleive that the was rendering himself liable for any penalty
that said Daniel may have incurred in consequence of the violation of any law โ that if he had have thought that he was bound for anything else save the appearance of said Daniel in Court he never would have signed said bonds, he further says that upon the two Judgments Confessed by said Daniel (amounting to $1000, & costs) executions have issued from the office of Marion Circuit Court against your Petitioner and are now in the hands of the Sheriff of Mercer County for colletion and that your Petitioner to ^pay^ pay them unless relieved by the interposition of your Excellency. He says that it is a case of extreme hardship & injustice to him โ that if it is really the law for him to be held responsible for anything more than the appearance of Daniel he did not so understand it at the
time he signed said bonds and that he has been deceived! He therefore asks of your Excellency to interpose and afford him all the releif in your power.
