Richmond Ky
Gov Beriah MaGoffin
Sir: We herewith inclose you a petition numerously signed in behalf of Fortunatius Dozier who as you will see was indicted sometime Since for carrying ^a^ concealed weapon & subsequently fined fifty dollars —
You respited the fine for twelve months which time has now expired & the Sheriff has now advertised Doziers property to satisfy the fine & costs & will sell it in ten days —
Dozier is a very poor but honest upright man with a
family & we think that the case under the circumstances as detailed in the petition which we believe are true beyond all doubt merits executive clemency If your Excellency determines to grant the prayer of the petition please attend to it immediately as Doziers property is now advertized for sale
Respectfully Yours
Turner & McCreary
