REQUISITION FOR FUGITIVE FROM JUSTICE

It appears by the annexed papers, duly authenticated according to the laws of our State, that William Ward stands charged by affidavit of F P Smith with the crime of Grand Larceny and it has been represented to me that he has fled from the justice of this State and has taken refuge in the State of Kentucky

Now Therefore, I, ABRAM A. HAMMOND, Governor of the State of Indiana, by virtue of the authority vested in my by the Constitution and Laws of the United States, do, by these presents, demand that the said William Ward be apprehended and delivered to Hiram S. Hall who is hereby authorized to receive and convey him to the State of Indiana, that he may abide his trial for the crime with which he stands charged.. "The Ttate will pay no part of the expenses of the execution of this Writ."

Francis P. Smith being duly sworn upon his oath says that one William Ward on the 28^th day of September in the year of 1860 at Marion County and in the State of Indiana did unlawfully and feloniously steal take and carry away one bank note of the denomination and value of Five Dollars in the Exchange Bank of Attica in the State of Indiana, and four bank notes each of the denomination and value of Five Dollars on the Bank of the State of Indiana. and a large amount of other bank notes of varioius denominations and of the value of three hundred dollars, which cannot be more particularly described because the same are now in the possession of some person to this affiant unknown; all of said above mentioned bank notes being then and there the personal goods chattles and property of this affiant, Francis P. Smith, and affiant says that said William Ward, immediatley upon the commission of the felony and larceny aforesaid fled from the jurisdiction of the State of Indiana and ever since has been and now is within the state of Kentucky: Wherefore said affiant asks his Excellency A. A. Hammond, Governor of the

State of Indiana for a writ of requisition directing the Governor of the State of Kentucky to order the removal of said William Ward from said State of Kentucky to the State of Indiana to answer the charge in the affidavit & petition set forth.
