Camp Chase Prison No 2
Columbus O.
Dr Sir,
In my letter to you of yesterday I overlooked the fact, that although you have known me personally for twenty years, you have not had the means of knowing my position since the rebellion. I therefore add this note referring you to Senator Baker of Campbell, Adjt Genl J. W. Finnell, & Senator Thornton F. Marshall, who have had oppoortunities to know my sentiments
My whole object, as you will doubtless understand, is to procure if possible the influence of the Executive
of my state, that to obtain from the powers at Washington, I have an investigation of my case, that I may have a chance of relief from an unjust & cruel imprisonment, which I have suffered for a long month without semblance of charge against me, at great pecuniary sacrifice to so poor a man as I am
Very Resply,
Your Obt servt
James R. Hallam
Hon. James F. Robinson
Governor of Ky

asking and to be released
