Dear Sir
At the present Term of the Bracken Circuit Court, John W. Elliott. of Germantown was Presented by the grand Jury for selling — giving and loaning Liquor to slaves. and he has come into court. entered, his appearance and confessed. Judgement. and was find by the court $50.00 (page - 366. Vol 2) He says and the evidence. tend to it. That There was a oyster party. at his House and that a Negro was was there. waiting on the young men — and that he did give the said Slave a glass of Wine. during the evening. Not intending to do any thing in violation of Law —
Under this state of case. I think it is a case. that presents its self to the Governor — with a good deal in its favor for his clemency
