Richmond Ky.
To James F. Robinson
Gov. of Ky.
Dear Sir:
The undersigned citizens of Richmond and Madison County Ky would respectfully represent that at the [...] term of the Madison County Circuit Court the Petitioner was Indicted for the offense of "Carrying a concealed weapon" and at the [...] with the Southern Rebels and then as now their sympathizers [...]in his neighborhood were ready to take the lives of Union men. The petitioner was then and is now a Staunch Union man; he is a poor man; has a wife and six children who are dependent on his daily labor for a support; he is also a quiet good citizen and of good demeanor. We, in consideration, of the above facts, would be gratified if your Excellency would remit the fine, as we believe this to be a case for the proper intervention of the Executive Clemency.
