Your Petitioner, Otho A. Reynolds, would respectfully represent that at the June Term of the Lexington City Court he was tried under a warrant from said Court in the name of the Commonwealth, for committing an assault upon one George Lancaster and upon said trial was fined in the sum of Forty Dollars. [...] That the striking was committed some time in the month of March 1863 in the City of Lexington. That he and said Lancaster had for some time been unfriendly and that on the day specified he and Lancaster met on the Streets of Lexington and said Lancaster pressed against him on the street and that Your Petitioner merely struck him slightly with his open hand.

Your Petitioner would respectfully ask your Excellency to remit said fine thus inflicted except costs & fees & he will ever pray &c.
