Your petitioner Lewis Bucher respectfully showeth that at the Agust Term of the that he confessed Jud"Rockcastle Circuit Court 1862t for $20 + cost upon an Indict agst him for for Keeping a Tipling house. He states that the offense if any, was committed under the following circumstances: he lived on the Wilderness & Turnpike road between Craborchard & Mt vernon. & had some spirits which he sold to neighbors by the half gallon having a small store.. but when the armies passed the road they compelled me to let them have it in such quanities as they desired. & for this he was indicted. he is poor. but and a Loyal man out & out. This only by the way however: under the circumstances he prays a remission of the fine
