We do respectively ask the promotion of Lieutenant James. D.. McBride— to the Majorship of the 39. K Y,, Regt Vol Infty
Lieut McBride has been in service since the commenciment of the war. in the three months He saw active service in the 1st Ohio Regt at Viena and Bulls Run. After the disbanding of the Regt He went into service under Rosencrans in Virginia this summers campaign He has been prompt to duty and was in battles fought by Freemont and Siegle while under Siegle he was detailed for good Services— as an officer in the Sharp Shooters
Generals Siegle Schenck and Milroy. Strongly recommends him for the Majorship of a Regiment they say that he is well drilled. His Morrels, and character are excellent He is active. Energeticl. Intelligent. Brave and Determined give him the apointment and He will be an honer to the Services of his country
Lieut McBride is one of the best Officers in my Regiment on all our forced marches He acted with energy to keep his men from stragling he is popular and will do his duty whare evr he may be placed
