Govr Bramlette, My Dear Sir:
I have not thought it proper in me to ask personal favors of your Excellency, nor would I now do so, did I not feel it was my duty — Benjiman F. Nelson of Company D. 16th Ky vol. Inft — and Joseph McCollum same regiment Company E, have so gallantly behaved on the field, and in camp, that I do sincerely hope you may find it in Your power to advance them to a Lt [...] — Both these young are moral, sober-obedient, Sprightly & true soldiers, in any regard worthy of Govr Bramlettes consideration & promotion —
Deeply impresssed with the appeal I am making to the Governor. I assure ^you^ that neither of these Young men are in anywise akin to me, but are worthy — poor — honest and
appreciative soldiers
Your Kindnesss to them will fill with Gratitude the heart of noble loyal fathers, & ever be remembered by me with more than thanks
I would be proud to enclose there Commisssions
Truly Yours
