Dear Sir,
I see in the papers that there is being Raised a force for the purpose of going west to fight the Indians, called "Rocky mountain Artillery".
Now I have been in the U. S. Servis for nearly three years, I understand Artilery serves very well. And as my time will now be out in about two months, I very Respectfully ask you to give me permission to Raise a company of artilery
for to go into this Rocky Mountain Servis.
And if you give me permission to Raise a Battery, can I enlist men from other Batteries or from one hundred day troops. and if so will they be allowed a furlow of 30 days.
you will please answer, & much oblige you humble servant.
