I have the honor of addressing you in regard to an order which was issued by you.. Revoking my Commission In the first place the order states that I John W Walls was never mustered into the U. S. Service I will give the facts, why I was not mustered in the U S States Service as an Officer.. All the first Commissions that was issued was to take rank from
It was fairly understood between Capt Hewett and myself that I was to be one of his first Lieut.. But from some cause has tried to deprive me of my rights I now appeal to your Excellency to have this case investigated and I will prove to you that I am rightfully one of the 1st Lieut of the Battery.. I was mustered for the Months of
