Mrs Hannah Gill
Louisville- Ky
Madam,
Your favor of the
It is an invariable rule to have the recommendation of a Colonel- before commissions issue to fill vacancies in his Regiment — filed in this office. You can doubtless procure such for your son- whom we doubt not, is worthy of promotion. Did we vary from this inflexible custom- it would be in his case.
If you make application to some colonel- you wil doubtless receive a letter recommending your son to some position in his regiment — which you can forward to this office, and he shall be commissioned at once
Respectfully
Your obt Serv't
John Boyle
Adjt. Genl of Ky.
