I do certify that the within named Chas D Hillman was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in the 8 Ky. Cavalry โ commanded by me. That he was mustered into the U. service for the purpose of recruiting a Company. that he recruited and had sixty odd men in Camp. Him and his men were rejected by order of the Adjutant General of the State there being a larger excess recruited for my regiment. He was engaged in recruiting and awaiting orders two months.
