Lieut Aud of 60 day State Guards appeared before you last Thursday stating to you that the [...] under Jack Allen with 65 men were in shelbyville he was that day in one & half mile of my house with the 65 men but a reserve of 450 to support him he is traveling around without any restraint & no one to molest we do not know what will be the result of the visit hoping you will give us a little protection his head quarters are in sTaylersville & vicinity. recruiting a regiment —
