Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky, resident and soldier. Kentucky native. Son of Ethelbert L. Dudley and Mary Dudley. Resident in Fayette County, Kentucky, in 1850. Resident in Lexington in 1860. Served in the 21st Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a private and adjutant from 1861 to 1863. Appointed assistant paymaster for Kentucky by Governor Thomas E. Bramlette on April 1, 1865.
