Father of Edward Hughes, Sallie P. Hughes, Joshua H. Hughes, James R. Hughes, Willis G. Hughes, Kimberly Hughes, Henry H. Hughes, Lue Hughes, George E. Hughes, and Bessie Hughes. Owned five enslaved persons in Union County in 1850. Farmer and attorney in Union County in 1860. Partner and criminal lawyer of the law firm, Hughes, Dallam, and Hughes.
