Washington County, Kentucky, carpenter and soldier. Nelson County, Virginia, native. Married to Ellen Hamilton. Father of Martha Hamilton, Mary Hamilton, and John Hamilton. Carpenter in Vigo County, Indiana, in 1850. Carpenter in Washington County, Kentucky, in 1861. Served in the 4th Kentucky Infantry (U.S.A.) as a first sergeant and private from October 9, 1861 to January 18, 1864. Reduced to the ranks on April 5, 1862. Reported as deserted from July 31, 1862 to March 20, 1863. Returned to service on March 20, 1863. Transferred to the Invalid Corps on January 18, 1864. Served as a private in the 157th Company of the 2nd Battalion of the Invalid Corps fro January 18, 1864 to February 12, 1864. Discharged on February 12, 1864.
