Mason County, Kentucky, farmer and soldier. Kentucky native. Son of William R. Wells and Elizabeth Gault Wells. Farmer in Mason County, Kentucky, in 1850. Farmer in Mason County in 1860. Served in the 16th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as lieutenant and captain from October 28, 1861, to August 8, 1864.
