Casey County, Kentucky soldier. Casey County native. Son of George Drye, Jr., and Rowena D. Drye. Resident of Casey County in 1850. Household owned twenty-one enslaved persons in 1850. Student in Casey County in 1860. Household owned twenty-nine enslaved persons in 1860. Served in the 1st Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as first lieutenant, adjutant, captain and major from July 18, 1861, to June 9, 1864. Wounded at Rockford, Tennessee on November 14, 1862.
