Madison County, Kentucky, artist and soldier. Vermont native. Married to Eliza Boswell Stratton in Preble County, Ohio, on October 12, 1856. Artist in Madison County in 1860. Served in the 49th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as adjutant, major, and lieutenant colonel from June 20, 1863, to December 26, 1864.
