Jefferson County, Kentucky, architect and police chief. Connecticut native. Married to Caroline G. Read Stancliff in Jefferson County, Kentucky, on December 24, 1844. Father of Maria Stancliff, Mary Stancliff, Joseph Stuart Stancliffe, Albert Stancliff, Anna Stancliff, and Clay Stancliff. Architect in Jefferson County in 1860. Employed Mina Stroeman and Josephine Barger in Jefferson County in 1860. Appointed chief of police in Louisville, Kentucky, on May 8, 1862.
