Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky, attorney, editor, and statesman. Lexington native. Married to Virginia Cooper Wickliffe on November 25, 1844. Graduate of Transylvania University in Fayette County in 1827. Editor and proprietor of the Observer and Reporter in Lexington from 1838 to 1865. Member of the Whig Party. Resident of Lexington in 1860. Owned seven enslaved persons in Lexington in 1860. Secretary of State for the Commonwealth of Kentucky from 1862 to 1863.
