Boyle County, Kentucky, attorney and farmer. Kentucky native. Son of Robert Mitchell and Rhoda Durham Mitchell. Married to Sarah Hamner Mitchell in Mercer County, Kentucky, in 1815. Father of Martha Mitchell, Robert H. C. Mitchell, James H. Mitchell, and Lewis D. Mitchell. U. S. Postmaster in Mercer County, Kentucky, in 1833. Attorney in Boyle County in 1850. Owned twenty-two enslaved persons in Boyle County in 1850. Farmer in Boyle County in 1860. Employed Emily Prisco and Sarah J. Smith in 1860. Owned twenty-five enslaved persons in Boyle County in 1860.
