Lincoln County, Kentucky, farmer, politician, and attorney. Grainger County, Tennessee, native. Married to Catharine R. Hawkins Blain. Father of R.D. Clay Blain, William M. Blain, Fanny Blain, John A. Blain, Elizabeth Blain, and Kate Blain. Representative for Lincoln County in the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Kentucky from 1849 to 1850. Farmer in Lincoln County in 1850. Owned six enslaved persons in Lincoln County in 1850. Successful Whig candidate for Senate of the Commonwealth of Kentucky from the 23rd Congressional District (Lincoln and Pulaski counties) from 1853 to 1857. Farmer in Lincoln County in 1860. Owned twelve enslaved persons in Lincoln County in 1860.
