Washington, District of Columbia, soldier. Harrison County, Ohio, native. Married to Laura L. Vincent. Father of Thomas N. Vincent. Graduated from the United State Military Academy in 1853 as a second lieutenant. Served in the United States 2nd Artillery Regiment until 1859. Appointed assistant professor of chemistry at the United States Military Academy in August 1859. Served in the Army of Northwestern Virginia (U.S.A.) as an assistant adjutant general, captain, and major from July 1861 to 1865.
