Outreach

As a project of the Kentucky Historical Society and a documentary edition, CWGK sits at the intersection of academic history and public engagement.

Below are the various ways that KHS staff have connected the CWGK corpus of documents to public-facing interpretation within and beyond Kentucky.

Civil War History Day

Every September, CWGK staff invite historians, local museum professionals, and National Park Service staff to KHS to engage in a day of conversation and shared learning about the Civil War Era. By engaging with the public, Civil War History Day lives KHS’s mission, builds community, and creates learning opportunities. Below are videos and recordings of past Civil War History Day presentations.
