AGENT'S APPOINTMENT TO RECEIVE A FUGITIVE FROM JUSTICE.
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE STATE OF INDIANA.
I, Oliver P. Morton
GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF INDIANA.
To all who shall see these Presents—Greeting.
Know Ye, That reposing especial trust and confidence in the integrity, diligence, and ability of John W. Barker I do hereby appoint him Agent on the part of this State to proceed to the State of Kentucky for the purpose of demanding and receiving from the proper authorities of said State, Frank Smith a Fugitive from Justice from the State of Indiana, charged with the crime of Grand Larceny and I do hereby authorize and direct the said John W. Barker to demand and receive the said Fugitive, and bring him to this State, and deliver him to the custody of the Sheriffof the County of Clark in said state of Indiana
"The State will pay no part of the expenses of the execution of this Writ."
